I used to read a lot. All the time. I once had my nose so far in a book that I walked straight into a metal pole on my grade school playground and got a nasty bruise on my forehead. And although I have read a lot over the years, my habit isn’t what it used to be. Between the endless stream of content, social media, and a brief dalliance with knitting, I let my love of books languish.
But this year is going to be different. I’m going to try to read 100 books. Not because there’s anything special about that number, but it seems about right. To help this along, we’re cutting the cord – not just to cable, but to Hulu and Netflix and so forth.
I’m not sure yet what I’ll read. I’m hoping that many (most, maybe) will be books that I already own. I’m going to start with some favorites that I haven’t read in a long time and branch out from there. Most of what I read will probably be fiction, though there will be a good bit of non-fiction in there too. And yes, graphic novels count as books.
I’m going to document each book here, and though I’m not planning to write reviews per se, I’m going to try to leave some comments. And I’m going to invite some friends who are taking on the same challenge.
